Description
This beautiful and vibrant ring is set with an intensely colored 3.49-carat greenish-blue lab-created spinel and two single-cut diamonds in 10K gold. The scissor-cut blue lab spinel pairs nicely with the glistening gold. An outstanding vintage 1930s three-stone ring to wear alone or in a stack!
Spinel has a long history with jewelry, but only some people know it exists. The most famous spinel, the Black Prince’s Ruby, appeared on the British Crown in the 15th century and, until the 1940s, was misidentified as a ruby. Spinel is highly saturated in hue and often found alongside ruby and sapphire deposits, so its identity is commonly misunderstood. Little is written about spinel, but some believe it will help you connect with your inner source of power. Spinel is an alternative birthstone for August.
Lab-created spinels are REAL gemstones as they are chemically, optically, and physically the same as natural spinel. The only difference is that synthetics were created in a controlled lab environment, and natural stones are formed during major geological events. You can read more about synthetics and lab-created gemstones here:
The ring is in very good to good vintage condition with some minor signs of wear. The lab spinel has two small chips on the table facet, which are noticeable in reflective light. The band is not stamped or marked. The gold has fine lines and marks, typical of vintage jewelry.
The ring is a size 6.25, can be sized, and weighs 1.97 grams. The spinel measures 10.5 x 8.2 x 4.9mm and weighs 3.49 carats. The diamonds are 1.5mm and weigh 0.01 carat each. The box is for display only.
