Description
Crafted in the 1960s, this gorgeous ring is set with a sparkling 0.86-carat yellowish-orange synthetic sapphire into 10K white gold. The asymmetric shank adds a little character and design, while the lovely sapphire glows in the sunlight. A great ring for a September baby!
Sapphire is one of the “big three” gemstones – ruby, sapphire, and emerald – coveted throughout the ages. Sapphire is commonly associated with royalty and romance, and its name derives from the Greek word “saphheiros,” which most likely referred to lapis lazuli. Ancient royals thought that sapphire guarded the wearer against envy and harm, while clergy members wore them to symbolize heaven.
You can read more about synthetic gemstones here:
The ring is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The surface of the gold has fine lines and marks, nothing noticeable or obvious. The sapphire has tiny nicks along the facet junctions under magnification. The shank is stamped 10K SPRING, and a GIA Graduate Gemologist examined the sapphire.
The ring is a size 6.75 and can be sized and weighs 1.98 grams. The synthetic sapphire measures 6.1mm x 6.1mm 3.2mm and weighs 0.86 carats. The box is for display only.
