Taxco silver is highly coveted and collectible, with a high quality of craftsmanship in each piece. Taxco is a tiny town between Acapulco and Mexico City with a long mining history. In the late 1920s, a highway finally extended to Taxco, which enabled William Spratling, a gentleman from the US, to find the town and discover the potential in the artisan community. The brooch is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The surface of the silver has a few fine lines and marks, but nothing noticeable. The back is stamped TM-90 925 and has a worn mark.
The brooch measures 2″ long and 15/16″ wide and weighs 9.37 grams. The box is for display only.
