Description
Large, statement earrings from the 1990s are always fashionable, and these puffy sterling silver Taxco oval clip earrings draw attention. The large dyed blue jasper cabochons pop against the silky silver. A great pair of vintage earrings to add to your collection!
Taxco silver is highly coveted and collectible, with a high quality of craftsmanship in each piece. Taxco is a tiny town between Acapulco and Mexico City with a long mining history. In the late 1920s, a highway finally extended to Taxco, which enabled William Spratling, a gentleman from the US, to find the town and discover the potential in the artisan community. He invited great metalsmiths to join him in apprenticing young artists, and the world took notice of the divine craftsmanship in the jewelry produced.

The earrings are in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. There are fine lines and marks on the surface of the silver, which are not noticeable or distracting. The silver has a light layer of patina, which can be polished upon request. The backs are stamped MEXICO TC-311 925. This stands for the 311th artist to register in Taxco with the initial C, and 925 is sterling silver.
The earrings measure 1-1/16″ tall and 3/4″ wide and weigh 14.62 grams. The box is for display only.
