Description
This is a stunning antique late Victorian Bohemian garnet choker necklace with a celestial and floral motif. The 97 rose-cut garnets catch the light from every angle, drawing your eye to the elegant cluster design. Made in the early 1900s in Czechoslovakia, these pyrope garnets have a reputation for an “inner glow.” The elegant choker rides high on your neck and would look lovely with everything from jeans to a ball gown.
Bohemian garnets came from Bohemia’s hills in Czechoslovakia and were very popular from the 1820s to 1920s with the European upper class.

The necklace is in very good antique condition with minimal signs of wear. The garnets are in excellent condition; none are cracked or chipped, but some have tiny nicks on the facet junctions under magnification. None of the garnets wiggle and are secure in the mounting. The garnet-encrusted box clasp is fully functional and has no marks. The surface of the gilt shows fine lines and marks typical of antique jewelry.
The necklace is 17″ long, 1-3/8″ wide, and weighs 13.61 grams. The box is for display only but has a fine leatherette gift box.
