Description
Rendered in the 1940s in Taxco, Mexico, this gorgeous vintage bracelet is set with rich-purple amethyst cabochons in floral sterling silver. The link style allows the bracelet to rest comfortably on the wrist and would look great alone or in a stack. A wonderful gift for February baby!
Taxco silver is highly coveted and collectible with a high quality of craftsmanship in each piece. Taxco is a tiny town between Acapulco and Mexico City with a long mining history. In the late 1920s, a highway finally extended to Taxco, which enabled William Spratling, a gentleman from the US, to find the town and discover the potential in the artisan community. He invited great metalsmiths to join him in apprenticing young artists, and the world took notice of the divine craftsmanship in the jewelry produced.

The bracelet is in very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The surface of the silver has fine lines and marks, but nothing noticeable or distracting. The silver also has areas of dark patina, which will be polished upon request. The simple D-ring clasp is stamped with SILVER MADE IN MEXICO that was the typical mark for Taxco pre-1947. The amethyst shows signs of abrasion from years of wear, but because of the stone’s color, you do not notice it. The amethyst is not chipped or cracked and was tested by a GIA Graduate Gemologist.
The bracelet measures 7″ long and 13/16″ wide and weighs 39.95 grams.
