Crafted by a Navajo artist in the 1930s, this stunning vintage Naja detachable pendant is very eye-catching. The pendant is a large sand-cast silver plate over brass. The Naja is a signature element of traditional Navajo jewelry and is accented with hands. A great statement pendant to add to any chain!
The Navajo Naja, originally inspired by Spanish horseshoe designs, represents protection and good luck in Navajo culture. It has shifted from a symbol of riding skill to a key part of Navajo jewelry, holding spiritual meaning and cultural heritage.
The pendant is in very good vintage condition with minor signs of wear. The surface of the silver plate exhibits fine lines and marks characteristic of vintage jewelry. The silver has a dark patina layer that can be polished upon request, and the plate is slightly worn on the hands. The pendant is not marked or stamped.
The pendant measures 2 1/4" tall, 2 3/8" wide, and weighs 25.36 grams. The box and chain are for display only.
